About Lane Baldwin
Lane brings a wealth of knowledge to his consulting and writing work. From the music industry to retail, Fortune 500 companies to Home Offices, Lane has helped countless others achieve their goals and dreams. Now you can profit from his experience, as well as that of his hand-picked team of business experts. Where It All Began A salesman since childhood, Lane learned the subtleties of building relationships from his father. For forty years he has endeavored to be the ultimate customer servant. His consulting career spans more than twenty-five years helping numerous small- and medium-sized businesses succeed. Getting From There to Here After serving for 8 years in US Navy, Lane pursued a professional music career. As any successful musician knows, understanding the business of music is crucial to survival in a dog-eat-dog field. Because of Lane's sales and marketing expertise, he quickly created a parallel career, consulting to bands, artists and entertainers. When touring the world lost its allure, he transitioned into full-time consulting. Lane continues to work with entertainers around the world, helping them draw larger audiences and command higher compensation. (See Lane on Bass for more.) The Men's Wearhouse Connection Current clients are aware that Lane spent several years with Men's Wearhouse, a consistent award-winner in terms of employee satisfaction, humanistic management and customer service. As a manager for the company, he rebuilt several struggling teams, turning them into award winners. After assuming management of his first MW store, the team went from worst in the region (more than 50 stores) to Top Store Team in one year. This team also set the record for number of positive calls, e-mails and letters in a six-month period, shattering a twenty-year-old mark by more than 40%. The new record only lasted until Lane broke it again, this time with a brand new team during their first six months operating a new store, again setting the standard by a wide margin. As an editor and writer, Lane was part of the small team that helped create the company's new web site, working on all sections, including e-commerce, public relations, FAQs, Guy'dLines and customer service, to name a few. He also wrote the E-commerce Training Manual for store employees. Working with VP Kirk Warren, Lane virtually wrote the book on long-distance management of telecommuters. Lane continues to work with Men's Wearhouse as a consultant, writing business articles (appearing in newsletters by the World Business Network and the Greenleaf Center). Speaking of Motivation Lane also writes and speaks on motivation and positive living. Recently his story A Gift of Spirit was chosen for inclusion in Chicken Soup to Inspire the Body & Soul®, one of only 101 essays selected from more than 4,500 submissions. His Prayer has been used around the world for conferences, weddings, funerals and memorial services, and has been featured in dozens of private-issue prayer books. Lane is available to speak to religious and spiritual groups, schools, nonprofit organizations, youth groups and business/civic organizations. For further information, or to book an appearance, send an e-mail now.
