BOOKS

The Servant-Leadership Series:

Practicing Servant-Leadership: How to Succeed Through Trust, Bravery, and Forgiveness, 2004, Jossey-Bass. Released in September, 2004, this excellent book includes essays from the Greenleaf Center's Voices of Servant-Leadership Series, plus additional material by Robert K. Greenleaf, Larry C. Spears, Michele Lawrence, and a Foreword by Warren Bennis. To order online, go to www.greenleaf.org/catalog/ and look under "Recent Books from the Greenleaf Center."

Servant-Leadership: A Journey into the Nature of Legitimate Power and Greatness, by Robert K. Greenleaf, 1977, Paulist Press. Greenleaf is the patron saint of the humanistic management movement and this is the book that started it all. The perfect beginning in studies in management theory.

On Becoming a Servant-Leader, by Robert K. Greenleaf, 1996, Jossey-Bass Publishers. Dozens of essays to continue the study of servant-leadership. Includes a foreword by management guru Peter F. Drucker.

Reflections on Leadership, Larry C. Spears, Editor, 1995, John Wiley & Sons. After Greenleaf's death, the Servant-Leadership series of books began to include essays by today's top management thinkers.

The Power of Servant-Leadership, Robert K. Greenleaf, 1998 Berrett Koehler. A collection of unpublished essays by Greenleaf. Edited by Larry C. Spears after Greenleaf's death.

Focus on Leadership: Servant-Leadership for the 21st Century, Edited by Larry C. Spears & Michelle Lawrence, 2002, John Wiley & Sons. The latest collection of essays by the disciples of Greenleaf. Includes a foreword by Ken Blanchard.

More Books:

Leadership is an Art, Max DePree, 1989, Dell Publishing. Once the head of the most respected company it its field, DePree offers his insights into leadership and management.

Making a Life, Making a Living, Mark Albion, 2000, Warner Books. For those who want to do more than bring home a paycheck, this book will help create a career that feeds the spirit as much as it does the bank account.

Make a Name for Yourself, Robin Fisher Roffer, 2000, Broadway Books. A top brand strategist, Roffer offers 8 steps to help you create a successful brand strategy. Although it was written for women, the advice it offers can be used by anyone, and can be modified for use by small-medium businesses.

Time Management for Dummies, 2nd Edition, Jeffrey J. Mayer, 1999. IDG Books. Mayer may well be the world's foremost authority on cleaning up clutter and time management. The author of numerous books on time management, he has consulted to numerous Fortune 500 companies. In this book his basic principles are outlined in an easy-to-follow format with a casual tone. Don't be put off by the name; this book is worth every penny for those of us who are "organizationally challenged."
